Several things you can do, A) No lie, attach wooden closepins to the 
metal gas line.They help disipate the heat. B) Wrap the metal line with 
alum foil,,loosly it acts as a sheild and air foil to let air pas the 
line cooler. .An aluminum sheild between the fuel pump and the engine 
and or carbs and manifolds.
