Spotted something interesting while surfing today. Rootes' current owners
Peugeot were doing some extensions to the Ryton factory and found an
underground bomb proof building dating back to the war that had been
forgotten about. It had a roof 18 feet thick!!!! Evidently Rootes built
their factories the same way they built Humbers. ;-)

Also interesting to note that Rootes, in the form of Peugeot UK, is now
Britain's second largest car maker (number 1 is Nissan! - how times change).
Also, for the first time since Avenger production ended, Ryton is building
its own unique model - the Peugeot 206 station wagon. This model is not
shared with any other Peugeot-Citroen factories. I reckon its about time
they started building some nice little sports cars with Sunbeam badges on
them too.
