I had the same experience in my SIII about 30 years ago.

However, in my case the girl in question was sitting directly on the battery 
box lid. She suddenly got the 'hot seat' and somehow lit out through the 
drivers window before I'd quite stopped.

Fortunately it did not cause a fire, since the short circuit was ended by the 
swift departure of the gal's backside. All rather comical really.
