Bonnet Release

Anybody have a suggestion as to how to open a Series V bonnet that won't
open?  I've tried pushing on the latch area while my wife pulls the
release.  I've removed the hinge bolts and can see the latch, but no
amount of gentle pushing, pulling, or twisting will release it.  This is
a brand-new rebuild, and I HAVE to get this open to show off the new
engine to the local crew.  Thanks for any ideas!
