Are you sure it has any fault at all? (You mean the fuel gauge sending unit
in the left side tank?)
At least mine is very, very slow in every occasion, and it gives more than
funny measurements during long curves, when all fuel hears the call of the
wild centrifugal force and travels to the tank at the outside. And when that
awful little breathing tube swallows fuel, not only fuel gauge gets insane,
but whole left side tank is out of its sense.
And are you sure you need an accurate wisdom of fuel left? When cruising to
the lovers' lane it is sometimes useful to get in short of gaso (if I have
understood american comics I have readen under decades..??)
