Keeping everbody advised, I have been in contact with Dellows and at the
moment they have contacted the president of the Sydney Sunbeam club to obtain
a 1725 block and starter so that they can refurbish or rebuild the moulds they
used previously for Sunbeams.
They are professional, they told me that the moulds are made from timber and
can loose quality measurements over time so they are getting 1725 block and
starter so that they can be sure the bellhousing will fit. The other aspect I
have talked about is the extension adapter required to reposition the
gearstick, I have placed a Toyota 5 speed steel case beside a Sunbeam 4 speed
and believe the Toyota stick needs to be moved to a position 16" behind the
box (allowing for a 6.1/2" bellhousing). Geoff has 14" and 18" moulds for the
extensions and, after checking I think the 14" is the best fit however I think
I will get the remainder of the kit and do the final measurements in the car
before I decide. I also asked Geoff to check what they supplied for the
previous Sunbeam kits.
Dellows expect to resume manifacture in about 4 weeks.
