Ian is. The series 4a is an entirely differnt sheet metal stamping. They are
easy to tell because they have square cornered doors in both the front and
rear, while they have a square hood and round trunk. Series 4 cars have the
doors rounded in the rear, and the hood is also rounded. All seams are leaded,
while the 4a has visible body seams. There is more to it than that, but that
is the basics. Lou

  Classic Sunbeam Auto Parts lists it as the automatic and Sunbeam Alpine.Org
lists it as a different platform and states that the automatics were built on
both platforms.

  So, who's correct?
