revcounter trouble

Hi "piners,
I've a problem since some time.
The revcounter of my SV is working normally until ca. 3000 Rpm, above it
starts wobbling indicating from 2000 to 4000 Rpm.
Could it be caused by a faulty regulator which gave an excessive charge but
has been replaced?
I was wondering if anyone in our community had the same problem and has a
suggestion to cure the problem.
