Hi Ian,
If you can give me some contact info, perhaps I might be able to make a trip
for you.
Vancouver to Victoria is about a 2 1/2 hour trip - so it shouldn't be a big
deal.
As for transporting it across the border, when I brought my S-IV from
Washington State to Vancouver, I had to:
1) Obtain a "Exporter's Used Vehicle Worksheet" document from US customs and
had the seller complete it and fax it to them.
2) Once US Customs did a background check on the car and it was cleared,
then I purchaed the car. Customs would need at least 72 hours to conduct
their search.
3) Once at the border, US customs had to visually inspect all documents and
the vehicle. Once satisfied, they have to stamp the transfer document.
4) At Canada Customs, I had to complete a "Vehicle Import Form - Form 1". I
did not have to pay duty because of the age to the car however, I did have
to pay a 7% tax.
5) Homeward bound.
NOTE: Most likely this process is reversed from Canada to US. But I can look
into it for you.
Some things to know.
1) Make sure you get a photo copy of the sellers drivers licence.
2) A sales receipt. (include: Sellers name, address, phone number, and
vehilce info)
3) Make sure that the vehicle does not cross the US border after 23:00 hours
as the Customs officer will be peeved (personal experience). So check out
their bussiness hours.
4) It would be a good idea to establish a rapport with a Customs Officer for
any questions and if he/she is working the day the car crosses the border,
all for the better.
Stay safe,
