Thanks to all who responded a while back regarding the mystery of no power
on #3 and #4 cylinders. I tried about everything imaginable, all with no
success. I finally determined that the only resolution was to take off the
head and start over.
I had a newly reconditioned head on the shelf, along with new manifold
gaskets. I replaced the head and gaskets and started up the engine. All is
normal now.
I am still mystified about the other head - it too was reconditioned-and
installed with new manifold gaskets. Well, whatever the problem was, I
still don't know. But it is nice to be up and running again.
Once again, thanks to all of you for the many tips and ideas.
