The run is going to have a professional 'back-up' crew (and caterers!) I
believe.
Re the roads: Adelaide to Alice/Ayers Rock/Olgas is all sealed. The road
to Kings Canyon is also sealed. The only place that is famous but
4WD-only is Palm Valley. Not sure about the best route from Qld, but
there are good roads from Sydney and Melbounre too.
The Rootes tour came to Adelaide last year, and these people know how to
organise a leisurely, see-it-all, rally. They intend to have a major run
every year or two to different parts of the country.
If anyone wants to see 'The Rock' this would be a great opportunity.
