A friend of mine owned a Dodge Colt with the Dual-Stick 4 speed.  It was
indeed a front driver and was also available as the Plymouth Champ.  I think
they were available in the mid eighties.  Even a turbo model was available.
The car had an additional two position lever next to the gear shift.  It was
marked Power and Economy.  You could really tell the difference between the
two modes.  Some information is available about half way down the page at

Yes the '70s Colts were RWD but I don't think they had the 2 speed final
drive;
the one I was thinking of was the 1980's model.  BTW Jan, now that your
Cricket is
an Avenger do you still call it "Creaky" or is there a new name we should be
aware
of ?
