I have never seen one of the Columbias (and never heard of the Ford unit),
but it is my understanding they were set up much like the heavy duty truck
units with a vacuum shift.

late 60s that fit in a 9" Ford axle casing. Very rare, very expensive, very
heavy, and very LONG. The carrier housing is about a foot or so longer than
a standard 9" carrier!
