Hi Brent,

the operation of the over drive reduces the engine revs at a maintained
speed, when you engage it the engine revs drop as the overall gearing
has been increased.

For example, if you are running at say 60 MPH and engage o/d, you should
see the engine revs drop but the speed remain pretty much the same.
engaging o/d is normally pretty smooth but if the od unit has new
clutches fitted after a rebuild then they can be a little sharp.
Dis-engaging can be harsh if you don't feather the throttle a little to
get the engine ready to increase speed quickly, otherwise it acts like a
down change without the clutch.

On a newly fitted od, the oil can sometimes takes a few miles to get
around the system and clear airlocks. what oil are you running? It
should be engine oil rather than hypoid.

the first thing I would check if it does not work is the electrics,

when you engage over drive, do you get a 12 volt feed on the yellow
purple wire at the solenoid ?

regards

Jeff
