This is the explanation generally given for the presence of the hand-crank
bolt on the Series V, after it had been superseded on the IV by a plain
bolt to hold the fan-belt pulley in stock -- someone opened a warehouse
door, and there was a passel of these hand-crank bolts, so they used them
up on the V's. The blue six-bladed fan was, I recall, originally part of
the Series II racing kit.
