I had the same problem. I used a piece of metal fuel line with a flared end
and a threaded connector. I bent the pipe to clear the oil block and
screwed it into the fuel pump. I had to solder the metal pipe to the
fitting (not the fuel pump) because the fuel pump is not setup to use the
flared fittings.
It was a hassle but it never leaked. I looked around for a proper elbow
fitting but never could find one. If I had it to do over again, I think I
would have rebuilt the original "glass bowl" pump.

Has anyone had problems with the proximity of the aftermarket fuel pumps. It
seems that the fuel inlet is almost too close to the oil filter block. Has
anyone installed an elbow etc.
