No Alpine Content-Platinum Tipped Spark Plugs

Does anyone have any long term experience with the platinum spark plugs?  I 
always hear they last 100K miles.  I had a set in my "normal" car and after 50K 
miles the tips were worn about 0.020 in. into the ceramic and there was a 
crater about 1/2 the thickness of the electrode (the grounded part).  Needless 
to say the car was missing a lot.
