Listers,
A couple of points of possible interest:
Interesting (nasty) thing happened the other day - I opened the boot (trunk)
of my series 2 and as I lifted it the bracket that is spot welded to the
bottom of the gutter tore itself free. On inspection I discovered that the
shaft that runs through to the spring on the other side had seized in its
tube causing the damage. The only hint that I had was that the lid didn't
"pop" up like it used to - I thought it was a problem with the lock. Anyway
- it might be time for some of you to add some lubrication.
I have driven and rebuilt a number of rootesmobiles during my 26 years of
car ownership (never been without one in fact) and have never used new
lifters - have always had the old ones reground - and have never had a
problem with them.
Finally, I had to put my roof up yesterday :-( - must be the first time in
over two years of daily driving. It was raining so hard I couldn't see.
Isn't it a wonderful experience trying to pull the tonneau cover off, open
the panels, pull the roof up and button everything up while getting soaked?
Ah, the joys of owning a convertible...
