Drug Dealer Floor?

Hey Ya'll, I just aquired my first Alpine recently
and as I was cleaning the carpet found that there
is a steel plate with 2 hinges welded to the firewall
comming back to the passenger floor board.  It
has a finger hole to alow it to be lifted quite easily
to gain access to a small area under the plate.
Hummm,  the possibilities........
