Armand,
I know it's been awhile since you posted the message below, but I was
curious to learn of any replies you may have gotten. I have the same carb,
and had the same problem. Sometimes the car would stall and only run at
idle, so I replaced the fuel pump with a generic electric one. I mounted
this under the trunk, as near to the tanks as possible, and bypassed the old
fuel pump. If it is left in series with the new one, it will produced extra
resistance that could damage the new pump.
However, the new pump has not fixed my problem with fuel supply to the
secondary. The car no longer stalls out and behaves irregularly, but I have
been frustrated because of the need to be extremely gentle on the gas pedal.
As soon as the secondary opens up, I get a sputter and have to let up on the
gas. If I floor it suddenly, the engine may even die out occasionally. I
have cleaned all the jets and checked to see that they match those of
someone without the problem (thanks for the previous help!), but to no
avail. The sputtering occurs more often under load, and performance tends to
improve if I use the choke. The carb is properly tuned at idle and I believe
is correctly jetted, and the accelerator pump is working fine. Any
suggestions from the group to help both of us out?
Thanks as always,
Andrew Gregg
