I'm back in the mailing list after a 1.5yr hiatus - finally got my NJ
Historic Plates! It feels good to be exempt.

What's new? is there a new place for the archives? I could not find
anything on the old place past mid-1999.

Apologies if this has already been brought up over and over again, but I
need to replace my worn out Dunlop 13x4" wire wheels with 14" Daytons or
better to place 185/60-14s and have a few questions to put to the group:

1. I measured the distance from the back of the wheel to where the wheel
hits the hub at 3.25" , what is the offset? Current setup w/ 175/70-13
leaves me with about 1" clearance on front from steering arm and another 1
to 1.5" to clear the front of the front fender with wheel in ~ 20degree
turn. I think 186/60-14s will fit with proper offset.

2. Moss Motors has 14" non-wire wheels (panasport look-alikes) at $300ea
which are supposed to fit on splined hubs. Anybody have experience with
this? I could not find from them the offset.

3. British Wire Wheel in Aptos says they can custom order 14x5 Daytons w/
custom offset (min 5" width to accomodate tubeless tires) but takes 8 weeks.
any way to get this quicker? As long as I'm running the same tire (planned
185/60-14s) will the width change between 4" and 5" (or even 6")?

4. Moss also has 'new' Dunlops w/ stainless spokes - but w/ bad experience
w/ Dunlops I'm reluctance to try again. Are they really much better?

thanks, Siegfried
