=C2=A0 Antique plates are good forever (no renewal required) and we are all=

and as one police officer who was a member of our local club said "The majo=

Modern cars are subject to a biannual safety inspection and an EECIV scan w=

Same here, Dave. We do have safety and emissions testing on newer cars here=
in Texas, and a passed test verification is required for the annual licens=
e renewal (about $75). Front license plates are required too but the law is=
typically ignored, especially for sports cars. All cars 25 years and older=
are not required to be emissions tested and if one chooses 'antique', 'cla=
ssic', vanity plates, only the rear plate is required. Those specialty plat=
es have a five year renewal, rather than annual, at only a slightly higher =
cost.

Dave, this is just part of the fun! And I am not at all surprised by the ch=
