Intermittent starting issue (click-click). =C2=A0 Tested battery and altern=
ator. =C2=A0cleaned and re-tightened connections at starter motor using ele=
ctrical grease. =C2=A0 Replaced ratty original positive battery cablle. =C2=
=A0Fixed bare wire going into molex connector. =C2=A0weeping heater hose to=
firewall. =C2=A0 Had negative cable off several years ago and cleaned up a=
nd tightened the connections. =C2=A0 =C2=A0Still no joy.
Thought problem was on power side as running booster cable from positive ba=
ttery terminal to starter motor terminal made it go, =C2=A0I had lights and=
horn. =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0One day I got click-click, and then nothing and =
also no lights. =C2=A0 Turned out the negative cable was loose where it att=
ached to the battery disconnect switch. =C2=A0 I've one of the green knob o=
nes from the local auto parts store. =C2=A0 =C2=A0Great safety measure as e=
asy to isolate battery.
12 year old gear reduction starter motor from TRF seems good as new. =C2=A0=
=C2=A0This was a great upgrade as harder starting with engine compression =
increase.
All seems well now. =C2=A0 Lesson learned about needing tight clean ground =
connections for good starting. =C2=A0 =C2=A0Oh well, the other fixes needed=
doing.
