Dick,
My experience was that the quick ratio steering rack was just enough
thicker to not clear the crossmember. I could never get enough
clearance despite moving almost everything to their limits the
opposite ways.
At the time it didn't occur to me to loosen the motor mounts and try
moving the engine back a bit (it only needs about another 1/8 inch for
the QR steering rack) but I think I may have to try that trick. That
was mentioned as a cure for getting fan belts on without removing the
crossmember. Too bad I hadn't read that on the list earlier but I may
try it again before selling QR rack to Marty Sukey.
