        The capacitor is there to suppress kick back from the coil when the 
current
is interrupted. Since the Pertronix replaces the points only, I would assume
that the cap is still needed to protect the Pertronix from the kick back
voltage. Assuming that the Pertronix directions say nothing specific, leaving
the capacitor installed will make sure that the Pertronix does not die
prematurely.
        I would hope that the Pertronix would have a clamping diode internally 
to
eliminate the need for the capacitor, but I would not take it for granted that
this is the case. So in the absence of information to the contrary, the safe
thing to do is leave the capacitor in place.
        You should know that I do not run a Pertronix, so I am far from being an
expert. This is just my $0.00002 worth.

I'm getting ready to install a Pertronix unit in the distributor of my '75
TR6. The current circuit has a red and a white wire from the harness going
to the plus side of the coil and a black wire coming off the plus side of
the coil going to a blue can (capacitor?) that is grounded to the coil
mounting bolt. That last item is not shown on the wiring diagram applicable
to that year. When I mount the Pertronix, should I keep or remove the blue
component?
