Ok, found a picture on the SKF web site, as suggested by Lou in an email, the lip goes towards the hub, the flat part goes towards the vertical link http://www.skf.com/portal/skf/home/products?contentId=241603&lang=en Image on the bottom right with the a b c d labels.
