While you have the oil pan off you should also check the lip on the
pan where the bolt holes are located with a straight edge. These tend
over time to be dimpled outward from overtightening. This can easily
be remedied by placing the ball end of a ball peen hammer in the
center of the hole on the side of the pan that bolts to the block and
hitting the other end of the hammer with another hammer. Seems like I
got this idea from other listers an eon or two ago. Thanks listers.
