One of the eBay websites for 1157 LED bulbs says: "A variable load turn signal 
flasher is required to use this LED for turn signal applications. If your 
vehicle does not have a variable load turn signal flasher a load equalizer will 
be needed and are available at most auto part stores."

Is the stock TR6 flasher unit a "variable load" variety or would that need to 
be something to install to replace the stock item?
