When I rebuilt my TR6, being a novice, I forgot to multiple ground. I
installed only the battery negative to the block. This caused arcing at
various other points in the engine compartment. I changed my mega ground
cable to a three point; un insulated cable (as in attached to the battery,
to the body and to the block). I also grounded the block to the frame in
three locations. In order to have a closer ground for the rear lights, I
grounded the body to the frame at the rear, close to the rear differential.
I have been advised that grounding closer to the unit is better. This works
for me on all my British cars.
