Andy,
Just curious.....why didn't you remove them as a unit? Wouldn't it have
been easier then separating the engine and tranny, removing the starter
etc.?

Andy, you are certainly no slouch. Over-exertion while assembling the hoist
:-) plus my day job will delay me a few more days but I hope to see an
engine and tranny dangling from the yard arm soon..

List:

I caught the bug tonight and pulled the transmission and engine (separately)
by myself. All the recent talk about shop cranes got me looking for one. I
bought one at Kragen for $137 yesterday and picked up a load-leveler with
chains at the new Harbor Freight less than one mile from my work for $30.
Today I bought a 750lb engine stand for $35. Sure beats renting anything.

Tonight I pulled the tranny and then decided to give the crane a try. After
I removed the engine mount brackets from the block, I had more room to
maneuver the engine to get it out. Mounting it on the engine stand will be
tomorrow night's task. I thought I was asking for trouble doing both things
alone, but it worked out without any damage to the car or me.
