Well Frank, 14 min. AND the correct answer.
The cam was retarded _30 degrees_.
The funny thing was - the pickup point for the valve coming off the seat
(in the is case 24 BTDC) was correct, but the valve back to seat was
retarded quite a bit (maybe 30 degrees - once I measured that it was off,
I started checking the lobe centers). The lobed centers were off by more
than 25 degrees, so I backed them in to the 108 called for on the sheet.
I can't wait to start the motor.
Now I have to fix the stripped out threads on the frame for the front
frame crossmember. :-(
