John S.---Broadly speaking, the "backfire" could be from a cylinder not
firing, , pushing this mixture into the exhaust system, and then
lighting off at the next time hot exhaust enters the manifold, or
downpipe. (You should feel the misfire right before the backfire)

Or, the rotor is sending the spark to the wrong cap terminal, on
occasion. It can happen if the rotor is not close enough to the right
tower, and sends the spark to the one with least resistance.

Or, you have a sparkplug or its wire that is weak.

Or, the engine could be running so lean that 100% combustion doesn't
always happen.

All of these suggestions should be enough to get you into Trouble!

So far as the door not opening with the outside hardware, you'll need to
pop the clips on the trailing edge of the door panel and look inside.
(Don't undo more clips than you have to) You'll see what's wrong when
you operate the handle button. If it's not obvious, you can take a look
at the other door's operations to spot the difference. Could be
something as simple as adjusting the throw of the button.

Ok! Clutch, slave and master cylinder installed and seemingly working
normally.
Another area to question is why does my car backfire more so when cold
but even after a good drive if I floor the throttle?
Does anyone have experience with the drivers side outside door handle
not working? It's awkward having to open the door with the inside
handle. More questions to follow.
