I just did this same operation last weekend. The tie rod should have hooks at
each end. These should be hooked around the bottom end of each window channel.
The purpose of the tie rod is to keep the channels from being pushed outward
when the window is lowered. These rods rattle! I tied the hook ends to the
channels with strips of cloth and stuck a piece of foam rubber underneath the
rod where it rests on top of the window stop. That, along with renewed window
channels, eliminated my door rattles!
Now I have to get the furschenlugener interior door panels back on!
