Many thanks to all who responded to my request for details on when the
plastic air inlet vent was introduced. Conclusion is that it was probably
when the commission number suffix changed from an "L" to a "U" and this
occurred at circa CC78521 U. This also ties in approximately with the first
of the TR6 manufactured for 1972, not the 72 model which started at CC75001
L but the start of the 72 year. As note by Kai "Lower production costs is
my guess. Injection molding a bunch of plastic vents is a lot cheaper than
producing stamped metal pieces and also don't forget they could delete the
associated linkage assembly. So overall, I think it was a cost savings
move"
I wonder if anything else changed at the same time?
