OK. Sorry. <Ahem>. I will plead temporary insanity on that last
note. The devil made me do it. I was an abused child. I forgot to take

To answer your question, the circuit that is fused is the "flash
to pass" circuit. Power for both the high and low beams is unfused, so
you are OK as far as swapping the wires to your headlight switch goes.
The only thing that will not operate as before is the flash to
pass feature, which will now flash the low beams instead of the high
beams. To be honest, this is not a feature that the typical American
driver cares one whit about, as the guy in front of you is clueless as
to what it means when you flash your headlights. He probably thinks you
are being a jerk, and are angry about something that he has done.
Europeans on the other hand know exactly what it means when you pull up
behind them and flash your high beams.
So other than that small detail, it looks like there are no
issues with swapping the wires. But remember: "Don't drive at night."

After some thought, it looks like you could, in theory, swap the wires
that run out of the column switch. Specifically - it seems you could
plug the blue/white wire coming from the column switch into the
blue/red wires running to the high beams and plug the blue/red wire
coming from the column switch into the blue/white wires running to the
low beams (take a look at the schematics and you will see what I'm
talking about).
I tested this last night and it appeared to work fine. However, here
is my question. Is there anything with the electrical load or
circuits that I'm missing. It would seem, looking at the schematics
using my limited electrical knowledge, that by making this switch the
low beams are now getting power directly from the fuse box and the
high beams are getting power via the dash headlight switch. But I'll
admit, I'm not the best at reading schematics, so I might be looking
at this wrong.
So, before I go out driving at night, I just wanted to run this by
everyone.
