Pim---It's good that you have the Lambda (02) sensors, as this will
guide you to the right a/f mix. You shouldn't have to run at one volt to
make the engine happy tho, as anything around 14 air to1 fuel should do
it. You probably won't be satisfied with the B1AF needles, but before
trying others, first make sure that your carbs have some decently heavy
oil in the dashpots, and the springs there are at least adequate. You
don't want the air valves flying up when you pop open the throttle
plates.
As someone mentioned, Burlen Fuel Systems (in your area?) has one of the
better supplys of needles. Check the list at the back of the ZS
Carburetor Shop Manual for those that get progressively richer as the
needle goes to the tip. Something like -.004 at the station 6 and
-.007 at the tip should get you in the ballpark.
You may end up going away with the biased needle and go solid. There's
info in print as to how to do this, if you're interested. Check out Des
Hammill's book on "Power Tuning the SU"
