I would put in a vote for using this opportunity to remove the diff if the
front mounts have not been inspected
lately. They get fine cracks in them that are hard to detect without grinding
the surface clean
and it really doesn't take long to disconnect the drive shafts and drop the
diff out.
With the exhaust and the diff out of the way the prop shaft will just slide
out.

Subject: [6pack] TR6 driveshaft removal?
A buddy of mine is in my garage attempting to get his driveshaft out of his
74 TR6 to change the U-joints. He said the book said that if you remove the
exhaust system then the shaft can come out from the front. Obviously he is
having an issue. The clearances are close, but Shawn and I are wondering if
there is a trick that he needs to know about?
Thanks for your replies, and the sooner the better or else he walks to work
in the morning.
