The discussion on carb needle valves reminded me of this. I purchased a
rebuild kit for my carbs from TRF last summer
and finally got around to rebuildng them this winter. After I got into the
project I realized that I forgotten to
order two kits, so I finished up the first carb with the one rebuild kit I had
and ordered a second kit (again from
TRF). When the second kit arrived I noticed that the replacement needle valve
for the float bowl for the new kit was
different from the one that came with the first kit. The first kit had a ball
bearing type valve while the new kit
came with a pin/needle type valve - the same as the old ones that were on my
carbs (and the kits were the same
brand). Unless I accidentally ordered the wrong kit one of the two times, I'm
assuming the manufacturer just changed
what they include in the kit. So here's my question - assuming that the floats
are set to their proper height, would
using two different valves present any problems?
