Thanks for the input. It appears that the flame trap is probably unnecessary 
in my case. As to the hesitation during hard cornering it only happens on left 
turns and not at all in straight line acceleration. I'll drop the floats a 
bit and see if that helps. I so enjoy taking those carbs off !
