As Vance so deftly pointed out earlier today, my gearbox is rather clean right
now. I have the o-rings, and a new top cover gasket on hand. I should really
attempt to replace the o-rings so that it can stay clean for at least a little
while longer.
I was looking through the Bentley procedure and from what I gather, the top
cover can be removed with the gearbox in car. Is this correct? Would you try it
in car? My interior and everything is already taken apart from the clutch
project.
On refitting the instructions say to 'grease' the abutment face and then fit
the gasket. Would you literally just use grease or some sort of higher tech
product like 'hylomar'(sp?)?
Thanks as always for the great input guys!
