I removed the pin and it is intact. The fork is in good condition,
no cracks. Shaft is good, no wear at the bushings..

I checked the operation of the hydraulics before disassembly and I
have the required movement to disengage the clutch.

Did I make clear that the ONLY time this is a problem is when the car
is in neutral, clutch engaged and engine idling, or in gear coasting
at low RPMs. If I keep the clutch disengaged while at idle it's no
problem. In fact this is how I can continue to drive the vehicle, I
just never allow the the engine to idle or coast with the clutch
engaged. If I'm travelling slowly in third, I disengage the clutch
and coast for a while, engage the clutch and go a while, disengage the
clutch and coast etc. When I come up to a light I keep the car in
gear and disengange the clutch and hope my leg doesn't go to sleep
before the light changes.

No amount of pedal pumling restores the clutch. But it is
immedialtely corrected if I turn off the ignition and stop the engine,
depress the clutch pedal once or twice. After this, the clutch is
immediately restored, I can start the engine (with the car in gear and
the clutch disengaged) and clutch behaves normally.

I just can't connect this behavior with hydraulics. It seems
inescapabale to me that it is mechanical inside the clutch or
transmission. I cannot figure out the mechanical reason, however...
