j.---On a new startup, turn the engine over to where the timing marker
is on 8 deg. BTDC.
#1 piston firing.
Set the points gap at .015.
Leave the rotor off, so you can see the points-
to-cam contact.
Swing the distributor body to where it barely opens the points, and snug
it down. Replace the rotor.
This (static) timing setup should get the ignition close enough to start
the engine, if the carburetion cooperates!

carbs to be re-installed tomorrow; both untested;
any key recommendations for 'start-up';
the carbs are now set mid-point on mixture; likely I'll proceed for
timing set up first, allowing carbs with mild idle set to 800 ought to
suffice.
