I second the suggestion for a gloss finish. The P.O. had replaced the initial
dashboard with a wood he describes as "quarter-sawn oak" with a gloss finish.
It is stained about the same shade as the original, but has a much more
interesting grain. The gloss finish really adds to the beauty of the piece. I
added a Moto Lita wheel, which blends perfectly. Basically, I am a sucker for
beautiful wooden things. My regular car is a Jaguar, which has acres of
polished wood on the dash.
