        Ed:

As far as value goes, condition is far and away the most
important concern. If you have two cars in identical condition, the more
original car will be worth more. The better the condition, the greater
the difference.
Having said that, our cars are only moderately collectable, so
you will not be sacrificing big $$$ if you decide to go with the Indy
mags (I had some of those on a car way back when...Very popular in their
day). I think you can safely go with which ever you prefer. If the car
is highly original and you install the mags, I would still keep the
original wheels and trim rings. You can't sell the stock wheels for very
much, and they are worth more on a highly original car. If you prefer
the look of the stock wheels, then sell the mags. They won't bring very
much, but they are aren't worth much on the car either.
Bottom line: Do what YOU like. There are still plenty of TR6s
around, and you will not be lynched by an irate mob of Triumph
aficionados for committing "wheel sacrilege". Get some beers in a couple
of typical Triumph owners though, and all bets are off. They will appear
at your front door brandishing (original) rusty tire irons and broken
half shafts.
Hah!

Hi, Guys n Gals

Long-time lurker here, with an opinion-type question

I have in the stable a 71 TR6 Barn find with no appreciable rust after
being
stored in our southern NM desert climate for 15-20 years. I have a set
of
orig. wheels, complete with rings and hubs, and a set of US Indy "mags"
or
aluminum wheels, complete with center caps, and can't really decide on
which
ones to keep-

Here's the part where I solicit your opinions-

Do the original wheels add any value to the car? Or, conversely, would
the
Mags devalue or diminish the value of this car?

Thanks,

Ed Townley

Southern NM (yes, it's in the USA)
