Final follow up on Rosey (TR6), after installing the new coil, she
is alive ... test drive was very successful, none of the previous
"stuttering" idle is even better and smoother ... I am "pumped"
over the car ... not the previous disease ... ;-)
Recap: First symptoms, car would "stutter" above 2000 rpm, but
if you feather footed it would run smooth. 2nd symptom, when
hot it became more and more difficult to start.
3rd symptom on the way home from a show it ran like it was
out of gas (it wasn't) that ended up with a tow home.
1st fix: fool with the carbs, adjust mixture,
synchronize, clean ... no effect
2nd fix: test compression ... all good
3rd fix: check spark ... found bad plug wire on
#6 still stutters
4th fix: all new Magnecore wires and new coil ...
Eureka !! :-)
She is ALIVE ...
