        James:

Many of the emissions systems bits are pretty standard stuff, or
you can find items so close it doesn't really matter. Before attempting
a rebuild, I would take my old EGR to a large auto parts store, and work
with them to see what EGR valve crosses to the TR6. They will try to
look up "Triumph" in their parts catalogs first, and probably fail. But
if they are decent, the next step would be to drag out the catalog with
EGR diagrams, and look for one that matches the TR6 EGR valve. You will
probably end up with an EGR for a 1980 Chevy Malibu or some such.
On my TR7, every emissions item, from the thermostats to the air
pump to the EGR were Delco designed items made under license in the UK.
My parts guy could just look at the dead part and say "Hmm.. looks like
the air pump off of an Oldsmobile" and go pick a replacement off the
shelf. I don't know that this is the case for the TR6 EGR valve, but it
is worth a shot. This is where you separate the good auto parts stores
from the mediocre ones. The good ones will track down a source for the
part for you, even if they can't find "TR6" in their parts books..
I have also found that some parts can be retrofitted. For
example, the vacuum retard capsule for the newer TR6 retards is N/A from
Moss. However, the earlier capsule is still available. Cutting off the
adjustment rod from the earlier capsule creates a retard capsule for the
newer dizzy. It is the same part as it turns out, just without the extra
doo-dad on it.

Let us know if you get a match. My EGR is still working, but who
knows for how long?

        Vance

In an effort to get the car ready for spring and summer driving...

my EGR valve (1976 TR6) is in need of replacing, but I was curious if
there
is a way or a company to rebuild this thing?

also, even though i put in a NOS EGR counter (i know, i should just
by-pass
it!)
it doesn't count the miles and the EGR light stays on - so i took out
the
bulb.
the counter seems like a simple item, i tried re-setting it, but
nope....still won't
count the miles. any suggestions?

thanks!
