Vance & Sloane,
Back when I had a soft top on my car(now surrey), the
proper way to lower the top is unsnap all the snaps,
including the snaps on the underside on one of the top
rails & pull the top away from the frame. Then fold
the frame down. The top(center portion) is then laid
over the frame & the 2 side windows are folded over
the center portion. There's a clear procedure in the
owners manual as well as the Bentley manual.
Trying to fold the top any other way and you're likely
to pinch the plastic windows in the top frame
