Hi Harry,
The Triumph saloon cars have the overdrive switch in a special gearlever
knob. The gearlever is hollow for the wires which pop out below the gaiter.
It would be a pretty simple operation to swap the gear levers over. You may
have to have the new lever shortened or reshaped to match the TR lever, but
that should be pretty simple for any light engineering shop.
There is one for sale locally on trademe here in NZ:

Hope this helps!

Subject: J overdrive switch replacement
Hi Friends,
My '75 TR6 with '72 engine has a problem with its non-standard overdrive
switch. Anyone have a current rating for a replacement, and maybe a
suggestion for a new switch and switch location? Mine is under the dash, R
of the key, not a great spot but that's what the PO put it.
Thanks for any help,
Harry
