Hi all, I am new to the boards and this is my first post. My father lives
in New Orleans, and owns a 1976 TR6. His house was flooded, and the car had
approximately 24 inches of water around it and some in it. The water was
only this high for 45 minutes, and then it receded. We can buy the car back
from the insurance company for around $1200. I know the car need a frame
off restoration because it has an issue with frame rust. We have aquired a
good frame that has been sandblasted and rustproofed. My question is this:
do you think $1200 is an ok price to buy the car back, and also what
problems could the water have cause other than surface rust, water in the
fluids, etc? (i.e. are there any electrical issues other than the starter.
I don't think the water got high enough to enter the carburetor, nor did it
get into the dash. I know I am in for a long road ahead, but basically am
asking what would you do in this situation. Thanks All!
