Hi List:

Captain frustrated here. The problem was hard shifting so here is what
was done. The gearbox was removed and as predicted the clutch fork pin
had broken. Since there was an extra gearbox nearby and the remainder
of the fork pin wouldnt come out easily the spare gearbox was installed
with a good clutch fork pin. Yes, I know that the clutch fork should
have been cross drilled and a pin inserted but with the British
Invasion on Friday, not much time, and knowing that the spare gearbox
was going to have an OD installed soon it was installed with just the
clutch fork pin. The result was better shifting, but not quite right.
There was still some difficulty shifting at times. So tonight was
spent rebuilding the clutch MC and replacing the slave with a new
slave. System was cleaned, flushed and dot 5 was used. System was
bled and immediatey shifting into reverse with the clutch pedal
depressed produced some really good grinding sounds. At Ricks
suggestion a quick shift into third then into reverse took care of that
problem. I know, I know, not the way it is supposed to be but Friday
is getting closer. Halfway home, less clutch and once all the way home
no clutch at all. So I pop the hood and check the fluid level. Looks
good, no leaks, cleavis pins look good. I get my daughter to press the
clutch in and I can see at least a half inch of travel at the slave
cylinder so the clutch hydraulics are good. Sigh. Time to dissect
that car again. But no time before the show.

Sigh.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions up to this point. They are
appreciated.
